Choosing between wood, gas and electric
The right product starts with the location where it will be used. Compare the listed dimensions, fuel type and manufacturer-approved setting before you compare colour or style.
Wood-burning fire pits
Wood gives the sound and character of a traditional fire. It also needs suitable dry fuel, ash removal and the clearances stated by the manufacturer. Smoke output varies with the fuel, airflow and operation.
Propane fire tables
Propane models offer controlled ignition and do not need firewood storage. Check the required cylinder, regulator, ventilation and clearances. Outdoor propane products must never be used indoors or in an enclosed area.
Electric fireplaces
An electric fireplace avoids combustible fuel at the point of use, but it still needs the correct electrical supply, clearances and installation method. Check moisture restrictions before considering any bathroom or wet-area location.
